Hostel Blue Planet is where I am staying. there is a "free breakfast" included. HA! this free breakfast includes getting 3 tokens from the from desk and going to the vending machines and getting a cup of hot chocolate and 2 pastries. LOL pretty ghetto! (I wish I would have taken a picture to show you- but I forgot) Michelle Kelsey and I went to the Catacombs today - we were standing in line for quite a while and occupied ourselves by playing exciting games such as "I spy"
I overhead the conversation of the two people that were standing in front of us- they were talking about God and Prayer and this guy said, "Well its not like God is listening to anyone, people just pray cause it makes them feel better, there are no real answers, its not like anyone is there that really listens and cares."
WOW! it took all that I had to not jump right onto that and say- "excuse me - you're WRONG!" I believe the complete opposite! There is a God who listens and cares about us as individuals and actually he loves us too and not only does he listen to our prayers- he answers them too!
Anyway - here are some pictures from the Catacombs - it was CRAZY! kind of like I was walking through a movie set or something...
There were hallways and hallways of bones. It was quite the sight to see:
Oh and if you haven't guessed this isn't so much the Romantic part that the title of this blog post is talking about.
Apparently the workers who were in charge of staking all of the bones would get bored so they would make patterns for example:
and if you look real close in this one you can see a heart:
So this IS a little Romantic....right....um......yeah....hummmm?
After the Catacombs we found a place to eat from a street market type of vendor- had falafel's which were good - then I found a little patisserie - and we got dessert there. Then we found this really cool HUGE graveyard:
then we found this really beautiful Cathedral as we were walking
this is St. Francis Exavior Cathedral
then we saw this: and I wanted to go and check it out- so we walked over to check out what it was.
Hotel de Invaled is what this building is
there are some museums and such in there but we didn't feel much like paying to go into them. so we walked over to the Eifel Tower from there.
We sat out on the grass for a while and ate some cherries we got at a stand and a bag of peanut butter Cheetos (they are the same as cheese Cheetos but peanut-butter flavor instead) kinda weird yeah! and we played Michelle and Kelseys favorite card game Dutch Blitz. Then we made our way over to the Tower- the sun was out the sky was blue - so we decided it was prefect to go to the top!
We walked up to the first and then second platforms:
Then to go to the top from there you have to take the elevator.
This is Michelle Kelsey and I at the top.
The view was pretty spectacular! There are LOTS of little road side cafe's here in Frnace - we ate at one tonight that looked a lot like this:then we went back to the lawn area that we had played cards at earlier today for a really nice view of the Eifel Tower at night. There were all kind of people everywhere - most of them drunk - it is okay to drink in public here - and so there are also guys walking around selling bottles of champagne. They kept coming up to us cause we didn't have any - and they were rejected over and over again!
Every hour they have a light show on the Eifel Tower- and they light off a bunch of bulbs that flash on the tower and make it sparkle - its pretty cool!
It was really beautiful and pretty romantic- wish I had a certain boy with me! But I still had a lot of fun!
